Introduction

Thermal analysis can tell you what temperature the sample has changed to, but it can’t tell you what was vaporised. Gases evolved by volatilization or thermal decomposition are qualitatively examined using simultaneous Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), allowing you to observe changes in the created amount alongside temperature variations.
