ETHOS LEAN

Compact Microwave Digestion

The ETHOS LEAN collects Milestone experience and embraces all these values into a compact and economical solutions for sample preparation, matching the requirements of laboratories that approach microwave digestion without the needs of high-volume labs.

Features

  • With a stainless steel chamber and a corrosion-resistant coating, this hardware is dependable and long-lasting.
  • Compact and cost-effective, with a footprint that is roughly half that of a traditional microwave.
  • Hundreds of built-in techniques and a user-friendly interface
  • Handling is simple and quick because to the vessel’s distinctive design.
  • For good digesting quality, advanced response control is used.

THE LARGEST STAINLESS-STEEL MICROWAVE CAVITY

The microwave cavity is the largest currently available, with a volume of over 70 litres. As a result, digestion rotors with more sample locations can be accommodated, boosting productivity and sample throughput. Second, it enhances intrinsic safety by containing gases escaping from containers in a more efficient manner in the event of a sudden overpressurization.

PRESSURE-RESPONSIVE DOOR FOR MAX SAFETY

The ETHOS UP has a complete stainless steel door with a unique opening and self-resealing system for added security. If the compartment becomes overly pressurised, the door opens slightly to allow for a quick and safe pressure release, and the microwave power is switched off immediately. The door is then immediately pulled back, resealing the microwave compartment.

THE MOST POWERFUL MICROWAVE DIGESTER

The ETHOS UP has two 950 Watt magnetrons for a total output of 1900 Watt. A revolving diffuser is also used in the device to equally spread the microwaves across the cavity. The combination of high power and powerful diffuser allows for rapid heating of high throughput rotors and thorough digestion of even the most tough samples.

LIVE MONITORING WITH MILESTONE Safe VIEW

The Milestone safeVIEW, a high-definition digital camera interfaced with the instrument terminal, is built inside the ETHOS UP. It permits the chemist to monitor the digesting process while remaining completely shielded by the instrument’s stainless steel door. In real time, a video of the entire race is broadcast.

Rugged, reliable microwave platform

Other microwave manufacturers utilise moulded plastic, while Milestone employs 316 stainless steel throughout, resulting in the most robust, reliable, and safe microwave system available.

SENSORS

In a digestion process, the temperature controls the sample decomposition and directly affects digestion quality. Milestone pioneered the use of infrared sensors combined with an in-situ temperature sensor. Today, Milestone innovates again by combining all the benefits of in-situ and infrared sensors into the Milestone easyTEMP, a direct contactless temperature sensor.

Temperature control with easyTEMP

The easyTEMP contactless sensor immediately regulates the temperature of all samples and solutions, delivering precise temperature feedback and ensuring complete digestion in all vessels while maintaining outstanding safety. This technique combines the versatility of an infrared sensor with the speed and accuracy of an in-situ temperature sensor.

For each sample, the ETHOS UP programme gives digestion history traceability and temperature measurement. Temperature graphs and profiles can be kept on the ETHOS UP terminal and are displayed in real time.
These sensors, when used in conjunction with our’vent-and-reseal’ vessel technology, provide full and safe digestions with no loss of volatile substances.
